There are still many characters to cast in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe. One of them is Wonder Woman. While most people believe that Adria Arjona has already claimed the role as her own and will debut as the Amazon princess in 2027’s Man of Tomorrow, Sydney Sweeney decided to get chins wagging with an Instagram photo.
Sweeney posted a series of images, including one of her dressed as Wonder Woman, along with her boyfriend, Scooter Braun, kitted out as Superman. As expected, the internet had a lot of opinions about the picture – some positive, some negative, and some downright creepy (but we won’t post those).

Under the post, one user wrote, “Blud is not Wonder Woman.”
“Cast her now,” another wrote.
One user stated exactly what everybody else might be thinking: “She’s giving hints to James Gunn.”
It does seem like Sweeney posting this image on her Instagram account is something of a cheeky “come get me” message to DC Studios. Of course, she knew that pushing the publish button would result in it making the news. There’s no world in which it doesn’t, especially in today’s social media age.
It’s not all that surprising, though. In all likelihood, Sweeney will want a superhero redo after the Madame Web catastrophe. She played Julia Cornwall in the movie, and there may have been hopes that she would return in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe as Spider-Woman, but the film bombed spectacularly and received some of the worst reviews for a comic book movie, so it’s safe to say that everything from Madame Web will be forgotten quicker than anyone can say, “Peter Parker is Spider-Man.”

Sweeney certainly did her best to distance herself from the movie. When asked by the Los Angeles Times about it, she said, “I was just hired as an actress in it, so I was just along for the ride for whatever was going to happen.” Fair enough. Sweeney had zero control over the final product, so you can’t blame her for Madame Web flopping like it did.
Considering her high profile in Hollywood, it’s more than likely she’ll receive a chance to play in the comic book movie universe again. As Wonder Woman, though? That’s unlikely. But don’t be surprised if she becomes one of the big names to be cast in an upcoming project soon. If DC doesn’t snatch her up, you know that Marvel Studios will welcome Sydney Sweeney into the MCU fold with arms wide open.
