Before Affleck donned the cape and cowl in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, martial arts actor Scott Adkins (Boyka: Undisputed, Accident Man, Ninja, John Wick 4) was one of the names attached to the role, with rumours circulating that Warner Bros. had auditioned action star. Below is video footage (exclusive to Fortress of Solitude) of Scott Adkins’ Batman audition tape (where he reads from the Dark Knight Rises script). Prepare to be wowed. He might just be the perfect man for the job.

Scott Adkins Admits He Auditioned For Batman

“They asked me to audition. Yeah, so I did. But that’s as far as it went. I know there was a big campaign on the Internet, which was great for the free publicity, but I think that’s because, obviously, Batman is a martial artist to such that’s his superpower. Isn’t it? People are disappointed that he has not been shown off as the martial artist he should be. I guess I look like Bruce Wayne,” Adkins said in an interview with Behind the Mask Presents.

Could Scott Adkins Still Play Batman?

Scott Adkins Batman Audition

With Ben Affleck stepping away from the role and rumours of James Gunn looking for a new actor to play the iconic superhero, Scott Adkins might stand a chance of becoming Batman again.

The English actor, who is trained in ninjutsu, judo, karate, jujutsu, wushu, Krav Maga, capoeira, and (breathe) jeet kune do, shows off many of his acting abilities in the linked video. However, it’s clearly his martial arts abilities that are most impressive. Still, he seems comfortable and more than adequate as Bruce Wayne here – not unlike Ben Affleck or Christian Bale.

Over the years, Adkins has become a household name by acting in many B action movies (like Universal Soldier: Day Of Reckoning and The Killer’s Game) and smaller roles in blockbusters, including Marvel’s Doctor Strange, Zero Dark Thirty, The Expendables, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine (as Deadpool), where he shared the role with Ryan Reynolds. In other words, he is no stranger to comic book movies and the superhero world.

Even if Scott Adkins was overlooked for Matt Reeves’ The Batman (where Twilight‘s Robert Pattinson plays the role), we’d personally love to see him as the Caped Crusader in a different medium—perhaps a live-action Batman TV show.

He’s got the look (he definitely looks like Bruce Wayne from the comics). He’s got the moves. He’s got the acting ability. What more is it going to take to convince Warner Bros. that Scott Adkins is the Batman we deserve?

Scott Thanks His Fans For The Support

Following the leaked Batman audition tape, Scott Adkins thanked his fans (and the DC community) for their support in a social media post. Soon after, fans and even famous directors took to socials to show their approval.

Tell us, do you think Scott Adkins has what it takes to play Batman?

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Batman is manipulated by Lex Luthor to fear Superman. Superman´s existence is meanwhile dividing the world and he is framed for murder during an international crisis. The heroes clash and force the neutral Wonder Woman to reemerge.

I keep saying that he is absolutely the perfect choice to play a younger Batman, plus he looks more like a younger Ben Affleck then anyone… He’s a great actor, even though to be Batman, you really don’t have to be cause Batman talks like a robot, lol. And his martial arts skills are far superior to anyone else that would have a possible chance to play him. Everyone needs to campaign for Scott Adkins to play the new Batman!!!! Oh and lastly, he wouldn’t bail on the role in the future, like every other big actor tends to do..

Scott adkins para mí sería el batman ideal para esta trilogía y para la liga de justicia parte 2 por que se parece bastante a Christian bale en la forma de la voz y otras cosas

Nahh….Adkins is cool and all but I don’t think he would do very good as batman. We need a comic accurate Batman now and we aren’t settling for less. Ben Affleck was pretty comic accurate, it’s a shame he’s no more batman. And although Adkins got the martial arts skills, he still doesn’t have the look and he is short compared to Affleck, also his acting isn’t that great at all.

Please! He proved to have good depth in playing the character Yuri Boyka in the Undisputed films. PLUS, his fighting technique looks similar to how Batman fights in the Arkham Asylum game :-)
