MCU Fans Can’t Believe These Two Avengers Have Never Actually Met

These two Avengers never met? Talk about a missed opportunity for a team-up!

It’s hard to believe, yet it is true: Thor and Spider-Man have yet to speak a single word to each other in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They are, after all, core members of the Avengers and have fought together in one of the biggest MCU battles. You would think they might have shared a few quips in passing. But no—unless something happened off-screen, these two heroes have never had an actual conversation and haven’t officially met yet.

A recent post on r/MCUTheories brought this to light and ignited a heated argument among Marvel fans. “I just realized, did these two ever interact? I can’t remember a single moment when they exchanged words,” the user posted. The discussion quickly took off, with fans piecing together the timeline to explain how this happened.

“From Civil War (when Spider-Man is introduced) to Infinity War, they’re never on the same planet at the same time,” Reddit user zionapes explained. “Then Peter gets snapped away on Titan while Thor is on Earth. When Peter is snapped back and then portals back to Earth during the final battle in Endgame, they’re never shown directly interacting. They stand close to each other at Tony Stark’s funeral, and then Thor leaves Earth again. Other than that, the closest is when Spider-Man webs onto Mjølnir when they’re playing football with the Infinity Gauntlet, and even that was thrown by Captain America.”

And he’s right. Here’s a list of movies Spider-Man has appeared in in the MCU:

  • Captain America: Civil War (2016)
  • Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
  • Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
  • Avengers: Endgame (2019)
  • Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)
  • No Way Home (2021)

And here’s a list of MCU movies Thor has appeared in:

  • Thor (2011)
  • The Avengers (2012)
  • Thor: The Dark World (2013)
  • Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
  • Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
  • Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
  • Avengers: Endgame (2019)
  • Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)

Were they technically fighting together in Avengers: Endgame? Kind of. But is this a real interaction? Probably not. Peter was trying to keep the Gauntlet away from Thanos’ forces, and Thor was tossing around lightning like a Norse god. No witty banter, no team moment—nothing.

However, Spider-Man isn’t the only character in the MCU that Thor has failed to meet. The Thunder God has also hasn’t crossed paths with The Wasp, Sharon Carter, Yondu, Bucky Barnes, or Black Panther. And while he has interacted with a version of Gamora, it wasn’t the original who died in Avengers: Infinity War.

As the MCU moves into Phase 6, Thor and Spider-Man might still have a shot at a meeting. Their first on-screen interaction is most likely to occur in a future Avengers movie – probably Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars. Until, or if ever, that happens, we can guess what it might be like. Our guess: lots of Spidey fanboying and, of course, Thor being totally confused about why anyone would call themselves Spider-Man.
