After what seems like a million years, Matt Reeves’ The Batman is in the final stretch. The buzz for Robert Pattinson’s Batman is starting to build and fans are wondering what’s next. Especially if there’s the possibility of Robin joining the fold in the sequel.
Well, there’s a young actor who’s just thrown his name into the mix: Tanner Buchanan. The 22-year-old Cobra Kai actor revealed to CinemaBlend that he’s a huge comic book and superhero fan and wants one specific role—and he wants it to be next to the new Batman, Robert Pattinson.
“I really want to play Robin to Robert Pattinson’s Batman,” he said. “I’m very specific about what I want to do with that and then maybe go on to play Nightwing.”

It’s an interesting proposition, but one that makes a lot of sense. Buchanan has established himself as star on Cobra Kai and most franchises will be circling him and his co-stars. Xolo Maridueña has already been cast as the Blue Beetle, so it only makes sense that Buchanan is in consideration for other comic book roles as well.
More importantly, he possesses the necessary skillset to play Dick Grayson in the DC Universe. His time on Cobra Kai has served as the perfect audition for a physical role like Robin. While he might need a crash course in acrobatics, he’s more than capable of throwing hands (and feet) as Batman’s sidekick.

Additionally, Buchanan is young enough to portray a high school teenager like he does on Cobra Kai. While fans might not see a 10-year-old Robin alongside Robert Pattinson’s Batman, they’ll settle for a teenager who could also be the prime age to lead the Teen Titans—another potential high-profile project for Warner Bros.
Buchanan’s Nightwing comments indicate that he has one eye on the future as well. While Grayson would need to be introduced in The Batman 2, the character is big enough to lead his own solo effort. Plus, it sounds like director Chris McKay is still waiting for Warner Bros. and DC to give him the greenlight to film Nightwing.
Many actors love to throw their names around when big parts are up for grabs. However, in Buchanan’s case, he might’ve just suggested the perfect casting. Looking at him now, you’ll struggle to see anyone else but Robin or Nightwing.
