BATMAN: Gotham Renegade is a stunning fan-made animation by YouTuber Alireza Fattahi.
The animation features a grungy version of Batman and a rendered version of Gotham City using Unreal Engine 5.
Alireza Fattahi has been working on this project for a fan-made cinematic animated movie.
There are some fascinating representations of Batman out there. Since Matt Reeves’s The Batman was released in 2022, there has yet to be any mention of who will take on the role of Batman in the DCU. Of course, when there is a vacuum, there will always be artists willing to fill in the gaps, and the same can be said for this stunning rendition of BATMAN: Gotham Renegade.
BATMAN: Gotham Renegade, which features a magnificent, grungy version of the Dark Knight, is a stunning fan-made animation from the YouTuber Alireza Fattahi, who has done an amazing job of rendering Gotham in Unreal Engine 5.
In the description of the YouTube Video, Alireza Fattahi shares that they have been creating this render of Batman for a fan-made cinematic animated movie — with a little help from Unreal Engine 5, as well as Maya Zbrush and iCloud.
Their first trailer for their BATMAN: Gotham Renegade project was released more than nine months ago. It details a combat scene showcasing some of the movement and smoothness that Fattahi has achieved in an 18-second video. Four other videos have been released over the months since then, not including the latest stunning cinematic teaser.
From the latest teaser, which was shared on the 12th of November, 2023, it appears that Fattahi has managed to render some of Gotham City, along with a flawless rendition of a gritty Batman that rivals even that of Tim Burton and Michael Keaton’s Dark Knight.
His suit is immaculately rendered, and his face is full of scars and startling definition and detail. This is one of the best fan animations. In fact, the animation quality is so good that it almost looks realistic, unlike other videos with a more cartoonish approach.
While actors worldwide are vying for the next opportunity to be the Caped Crusader, maybe the answer lies in animation rather than live-action. That being said, Gotham Renegade still needs a voice. Alireza Fattahi doesn’t mention who the voice belongs to (probably a soundbite from the many beautiful Batman representations that are out there or the work of AI) but does mention that Maya Zbrush was used for lip-syncing.
Alireza Fattahi continued to chat with viewers in the comments section about how the teasers were created. So, if you have any burning questions, feel free to leave them in the comments section of the teaser trailer. More likely than not, you’ll get a reply.
Do you think Alireza Fattahi should be the next artist to bring Batman to life?
