Megan Oosthuizen

Megan Oosthuizen is an entertainment journalist and staff writer at Fortress of Solitude and Sneaker Fortress. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and built her writing discipline through academic research before moving into entertainment journalism.

Before joining the Fortress Entertainment network, Megan spent two years as a sales consultant at Mr Price Sports, developing a hands-on understanding of consumer behaviour, footwear culture, and retail trends that directly informs her sneaker coverage. She brings a female perspective to sneaker journalism — an area the industry still underserves — and covers everything from the cultural significance of specific silhouettes to the history behind iconic models.

As an entertainment journalist, Megan has published over 1,300 articles tracked on Muck Rack, with bylines appearing in the Columbia Missourian and Under30CEO in addition to Fortress of Solitude and Sneaker Fortress. Her editorial beats span horror cinema, anime, gaming, and pop culture analysis. She has a particular depth in horror — from Lovecraftian cinema and monster movies to survival horror gaming — and covers anime with the seriousness it deserves.

Outside of work, she is a self-described book-reading, gaming-loving nerd with a growing sneaker collection.
