19 June 2026 saw the return of Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Bo Peep and the rest of the Toy Story crew as they returned to the big screen for Toy Story 5. With the franchise now officially spanning more than three decades since the first release, it has crossed over to a new generation of viewers with its latest iteration. The Record-Setting Toy Story Franchise
Disney and Pixar celebrated the return of Toy Story 5 after an amazing global box-office opening weekend, setting new records in the process, as the franchise continues to capture the hearts of millions of fans around the world. There’s just a little more to celebrate for South African fans, with the inclusion of Grammy Award-winning singer Tyla, who voices a new character, Inflatable Flamingo, in the Sub-Saharan African theatrical release. As is to be expected, the film introduces a new line of toys, including a few interactive characters that recognise and talk to one another when placed together. Another notable inclusion is the Wow Palm Puppetronics Toy Story (palm-sized figures with blinking eyes, moving mouths and expressive reactions), as well as the brand-new LEGO® range.
