Last week we took a loot at the most powerful weapons in the Marvel Universe, this week we take a look at The Most Powerful Weapons in The DC Universe.
Blue Lantern Ring
Like other power rings the Blue Lantern rings have an advanced, almost sentient A.I. which can communicate with the ring bearer.
As with other rings corresponding to their colors, the blue rings emphasize hope and are programmed to spread it. The ring is able to do Blue Energy Blasts, create Force-Fields, Energy Constructs, Fear Depletion, Rage Removal, Flight, Wormholes & Spacial Warps, Galactic Encyclopedia, Precognition and so much more.
This definitely makes it one of the most powerful weapons in the DC Universe.
The Mech Batsuit is a powered exoskeleton and a technologically advanced, heavily armored version of the Standard Batsuit used by Bruce Wayne during his fight against Superman.
It might be argued that it could be used to take down many other superheroes as well.
Lasso of Truth
Post-Crisis, the Lasso of Truth is the primary weapon employed by Wonder Woman.
The Lasso was forged by the god, Hephaestus from the Golden Girdle of Gaea that was once worn by Antiope, sister of the future Queen Hippolyta. The lasso is completely unbreakable, immutable, and indestructible. The Lasso is approximately 150 feet long.
It is able to restore people’s lost memories, hypnotize people, get rid of illusions, and people who are in its circumference will be protected from magical attacks.
Empowered by the Fires of Hestia, the Lasso forces anyone held by it to tell and understand the absolute truth.
Kusar Blades are Kherubim technological weapons forged on Majestros’s home world, Khera.
The blades were forged impossibly sharp capable of rending people of even Majestic and Superman’s level of invulnerability with ease. Majestic once demonstrated this truth by pricking his thumb on the blade. As Zealot states the Kusar is so sharp it can shave the rough edges off an electron and absorb the heat of a thousand suns with ease.
Although many were produced only a few are ever wielded by Kheran warriors and even fewer have ever been given that privilege to possess one.
A Beta-3 Gizmoid is a weapon of Apokoliptan origin. Designed by the evil genius DeSaad, the device is sometimes termed a “planet-killer”. It recongifures a targeted environment, altering its physical state into a wholly new form.
3,500 years ago, a rogue Parademon stole such a weapon from Darkseid’s Great Armory, and escaped with it to the planet Earth via Boom-Tube.
Xantha Charges are weapons used against Green Lanterns. Normally appearing to be red energy, they shift to yellow when close to the green Oan energy.
An unsuspecting Lantern could be seriously hurt or killed due to the blast bypassing their shields.
Purple Death Ray
A weapon of mass destruction, that for a long time only existed on paper. A variation on the Purple Healing Ray, it was finally created to fight back an OMAC attack on Themyscira.
Use of the weapon did not sit well with many Amazons.
Cosmic Divining Rod
The Cosmic Divining Rod is a device created by William Hand, the criminal known as Black Hand. A result of his inventive genuis, the diving rod was capable of draining the power ring of the Green Lantern.
It was also capable of locating the power ring’s energy signature, homing in on residual energy.
Spear of Lona
The Spear of Lona is an ancient mystical Polynesian artifact native to the Hawaiian Islands. Its true origin is steeped in mystery, but legend speaks of its ability to grant great magical power to whoever wields it.
To date, there has only been one documented demonstration of the spear’s capabilities. A person wielding a fully empowered spear can create a circle of protection by drawing a line in the ground with the spear’s tip.
The strength and duration of this protection circle has never been measured.
Trident of Triton
The Trident of Triton is an unbreakable three-pronged leister that serves as an extension of the God’s own power. It can be used for base offensive purpose, but can also be used for a variety of mystical effects, such as cleaving a spatial aperture in the middle of the ocean. It definitely deserves a place as one of the most powerful weapons in the DC Universe.
The Beta Club is the chosen weapon of Kalibak. A nightmarish weapon of DeSaad’s own malignant design, virtually indestructible the reviled new god uses this weapon as for a slew of uses.
Ranging to concussive force blasts enough to stagger the likes of Superman and/or Orion; and the projection of the deadly Nerve Beam shooting off all pain receptors within ones neural network leaving them in agonizing pain.
Forged by the Titans long before even Hephaestus stood at an anvil, the Flashing Blade was made to kill Gods themselves, and possessed numerous powers.
The sword can create deadly green lightning and fire, strong enough to fell even the likes of Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter, and its blade is strong enough to stab and cut the likes of Superman and Wonder Woman.
Unlike most weapons, a fatal blow from it can permanently kill a god.
The Miracle Machine entered recorded history in 2960, when it was given to the Legion of Super-Heroes in thanks for their stopping a rogue Controller. An advancement of the willpower technology created by the Guardians, the Miracle Machine can turn thoughts into reality, but it was regarded as dangerous, since if anyone in its presence wished for an instant – for example, to die – that wish would be granted. The Miracle Machine was used on a few separate occasions, but was ultimately locked in a block of Inertron in the Legion’s vault.
During the Final Crisis, Superman was pulled forward in time by the Legion to help them stop Superboy-Prime, who had assembled all the various opponents of the Legion for a final, apocalyptic battle.
However, what the Legion had not expected was that Darkseid would make his move to conquer Earth, warping space and time around him and preventing the Legion from returning Superman to his time until after the Anti-Life Equation was released.
To repair the damage to reality, Brainiac 5 had Superman look at the Miracle Machine and memorize its schematics.
Michael’s sword is literally the sword once used by the archangel Michael. It has since been handed down to Zauriel, although, another version showed up in the hands of Frankenstein.
It seems to work in the same way that it does in Zauriel’s hands. It is unknown if there is one sword or two, however, they both actively use it.
Sword of Salvation
The Sword of Salvation, when used on a target, can conjure the truth of a matter in both the mind of the target and the wielder. Used in conjuction with the Sword of Sin, it can bring up both the sins & guilt and the reasons behind them in the mind of the target and the wielder.
Like it’s sister sword, it is capable of cleaving through a target while doing no damage and it is said that it cannot harm anyone who is pure of heart. Its blade is often surrounded in a smoke-like aura of cool blue energy.
Mageddon was one of many war machines used during the Ragnarok of the “Old Gods” that led to the destruction of their world and the subsequent creation of New Genesis and Apokolips. Mageddon was capable of unleashing primal anger in intelligent minds, turning people into hostile, warlike savages.
Unable to be destroyed, Mageddon was “chained” at the edge of the universe’s space/time continuum inside what was described as an “immense sinkhole” of gravity. The gigantic planet of Wonderworld was created and the placed at the edge of the universe to prepare for the day that Mageddon would escape; it was populated by a number of gigantic heroes and super-beings. These heroes were led by Adam One and surrounded themselves with wonders from throughout the universe.
A Sun-Eater is the name commonly attributed to a weapon created to destroy stars. Guided by some inexplicable instinct, it seeks out vibrant stars and envelops them, absorbing all of their solar radiation.
The star in turn, compresses in size, but not in mass. This results in the dying star going supernova. The thermal energy released from the nova-blast powers the Sun-Eater and propels it towards its next destination.
Trident of Neptune
There are two Tridents associated with Neptune, god of the seas and the Atlanteans. The Trident is a magical weapon that grants its wielder great power and the divine right to rule the sea. The original Trident of Neptune was forged by the cyclopes out of admantine and Neptune’s own essence. It can manipulate and conjure water, as well as disperse energy in the form of bolts and forcefields. The Trident of Neptune may be used by his chosen champions, and was most recently wielded by Aquaman. The Trident beholds a vast number of magical powers such as the power to command the sea (making tidal waves or whirlpools or even making columns of water to stand on), control the weather (summoning rain or storms or creating rainbows), unleash blasts of lightning, transform living creatures into other forms, and it can also make things disappear.
Trident of Poseidon
The Trident of Poseidon is an unbreakable three-pronged leister that serves as an extension of the God’s own power. It can be used for base offensive purpose, but can also be used for a variety of mystical effects, such as cleaving a spatial aperture in the middle of the ocean. The trident is capable of controlling any body of water, creating water elementals, speed ships and other water vehicles with water, create fogs and storms of high intensity, summon waves of water to propel him at great speeds, and create earthquakes by increasing water pressure. It can manipulate and conjure water, as well as disperse energy in the form of bolts and forcefields.
Dead King’s Atlantean Weapons
The dead king of Atlantis ruled his land with the Trident of Neptune. When his brother, Orin, became disgusted with Atlan’s open race policy in his kingdom, he organized a coup. Atlan retreated into the ocean. The Dead King’s Scepter was used by Atlan in the attack to sink Atlantis due to his anger of losing his family and kingdom. The weapons were ultimately buried in Atlan’s tomb, with the exception of the Trident given to the ruler of Atlantis.
After discovering that the villain Metallo was powered by a heart made of Kryptonite, Lex Luthor used a sample to fashion a Kryptonite ring for himself. He wore the ring at all times in an effort to keep Superman away from him. Continued exposure to the low-level Kryptonite radiation proved harmful however and Luthor developed cancer. To keep the cancer from spreading, his right hand was amputated and replaced with a cybernetic prosthetic (hidden under a black leather glove). When Lex Luthor cloned himself a new body and returned to public life as Lex Luthor II, the cybernetic appendage was no longer necessary.
The ring eventually came into the possession of the Batman. Although Batman is Superman’s closest ally, he keeps the ring secured in the Batcave in case Superman ever loses control of his powers or if he falls under the control of an evil influence (such as Eclipso). On several occasions, Batman has been required to use the ring to keep Superman at bay.
The Kryptonian War Suit was developed during Krypton’s last historical epoch. It was used not only for war, but also for survival in the harsh radioactive wastelands.
One such battle-suit was created by the service robots inside the Fortress of Solitude. When Superman returned from the dead after being killed fighting Doomsday, he used a Kryptonian warsuit to facilitate the slow recuperative process. Once he reached civilization, he discarded the suit in order to help other heroes fight Mongul and the Cyborg during the “Reign of the Supermen!”. During this time, the suit was forgotten about until Lex Luthor (II) discovered it.
Bringing it back to Metropolis, Lex reprogrammed it as an automatic fail-safe should Earth ever become the target of another alien invasion. While Luthor lay near death, a victim of the clone plague, he activated the warsuit and used it to house him. With access to all of the suit’s armaments, Lex used it to fight Superman during the “Fall of Metropolis”. To defeat Luthor, Superman was forced to destroy the armor.
Phantom Zone Projector
The Phantom Zone Projector can be used to transport prisoners and objects to and from the Phantom Zone, an interdimensional realm outside the normal space/time continuum which is a barren and insubstantial null area absent of any physical material. Its main controls are a black button and a white button, used to send and retrieve respectively.
Wonder Woman’s Invisible Plane
The invisible plane was Wonder Woman’s primary mode of transportation for long distance travel. Wonder Woman’s first plane was a product of the Lansinarian Morphing Disk, gifted to her by the Lansinarians.
The subterranean technology could transform into a number of transparent items, and both Diana and Hippolyta used it to create a plane during their tenures as Wonder Woman. The disc eventually lost sentience, and was locked in plane shape. It was, however, nonfunctioning.
One year later, Batman provided Wonder Woman with a jet that had the latest in Stealth technology. It was not as invisible as the Lansinarian technology, but still fit her purposes.
Katana ‘s Sword which has the ability to take the soul of those it slays, sending it to a dimension that can only be traveled to through the sword.
It is capable of deflecting bullets and is durable enough to resist extreme heat and other types of attacks. She can communicate with the sword and use it as a tracking device to track anything she wants.
Those killed can be taken out of the dimension but only with a certain incantation and in the right setting. Katana’s honor is with the sword and she will do anything to protect it.
Helmet of Fate
Other than when Nabu himself has taken on the role of Doctor Fate, the Helmet of Fate is the link between those acting in the role and Nabu himself.
The most famous Doctor Fate, Kent Nelson, had a certain amount of abilities taught to him by Nabu including flight, super strength and limited invulnerability, but only gained full power when wearing the helmet. Because of this numerous others have sought the helmet for themselves.
Due to the strong will of Nabu, the helmet is also known to overwhelm the mentality of its user. Because of this for a time Nelson wore a half mask based on the appearance of this mask, but thus lost most of his magical powers while fighting crime.
Claw of Horus
The Claw of Horus is a gauntlet used by Hawkman. It draws its power from the Earth’s magnetic field and has enough strength to knock Superman out in one punch.
Lex Luthor’s Warsuit
The suit employs Human, Apokoliptian and Kryptonian technology. It is incredibly powerful capable of going toe to toe with Superman, at least for a while.
It grants its wearer enhanced strength and durability. It has powerful shields which cover the whole body, protecting the seemingly exposed head, and can sustain several full-power punches from an enraged Superman. Energy blasts which Lex used to incinerate several OMACs at once. Advanced Jets in the boots allow for rapid flight. For battle with Superman, the suit can fire blasts of Kryptonite from it’s right gauntlet.
It has several variations of Kryptonite radiation, which are fired through the fingertips. Each finger fires a different kind of Kryptonite. The Suit also has an a blade in its right arm for close combat. Undoubtedly, one of the most powerful weapons in the DC Universe.
Brainiac 5’s Force Field Belt
Brainiac 5’s force field belt is a tweaking of his ancestor’s force field technology. Booster Gold stole one along with a Legion Flight Ring from the Superman museum in the 25th century which we later find out was planted by Brainiac 5 so that Booster could fulfill his heroic career. Booster continues to use the device.
Khaji Da is a Scarab, a living weapon created by the alien species known as the Reach. Khaji Da belonged to the three Blue Beetles, but the most recent one has managed to use it to its full potential and has a symbiotic relationship with the Scarab.
It also gave the Blue Beetle super strength, flight, and the ability to create lightning when he cried the word ‘Khaji Da’ out loud.
