Set before the events of the original films, the latest entry in the Warner Bros. horror franchise winds back the clock to show us how Death’s kill list first came to be. This time, college student Stefanie (Kaitlyn Santa Juana) is plagued by intense visions—not the “I forgot to study for my exam” kind, but the “your entire family is doomed” kind. So naturally, she heads home to figure out what’s going on and whether she can break the cycle.

The cast is packed with familiar faces from fan-favourite shows: Teo Briones (Ratched), Richard Harmon (The 100), Owen Patrick Joyner (Julie and the Phantoms), Rya Kihlstedt (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Anna Lore (Doom Patrol), and Brec Bassinger (Stargirl). Horror legend Tony Todd (Candyman) also returns in one of his final on-screen roles before his passing in November 2024—because no Final Destination movie is complete without his ominous presence.
Directed by Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky, and written by Scream’s Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor, the story comes straight from Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts. This one’s got horror street cred written all over it.
While the film officially hits theatres on May 14, South African fans can catch it early on May 9 and 10 at Ster-Kinekor cinemas, including select IMAX locations. But here’s your chance to enter the fan screening comp:
