Let’s immediately address the elephant in the room. The Honor 600 closely resembles the Apple iPhone 17 Pro in terms of its look. Heck, even the available colours are similar, including the bright Orange. But, besides the outwards aesthetics, can this Android smartphone deliver performances in line with the iPhone? That’s what I tested to draw my impressions on the phone. With its impressive battery life and OLED display, combined with the 200MP camera, can its Magic AI editing at your fingertips make you the next Zack Snyder?
Honor 600 Battery Life: Two Days on a Single Charge

With the leap forward in battery technology in recent years, the standard Li-Ion battery has been improved quite dramatically. Although we’re still in a transition phase of the technology towards solid-state batteries, Honor’s 7,000mAh lithium–silicon battery produces impressive results for the Honor 600 smartphone.
The 7,000mAh capacity is immense. That on its own is a major step up of 1,000mAh over the battery on the Honor 400, and nearly 2,000mAh over the European variant. That’s quite a lot to pack in on its own for a device that’s only 1g heavier than its predecessor. This is also paired with an updated Qualcomm SM7750-AB Snapdragon 7 chipset, which also aids the overall efficiencies.
The end result of this is not just an all-day battery life, but close on a two-day battery life. For content creators, this is a dream. Honor has focused a lot on this aspect of its performances, pushing further than its previous smartphones, which were already among the top achievers in this category. In fact, the Honor 600 features among the top for battery life on most tests, pushing well into a second day of usage.
The battery supports 80W superfast charging. This means that you’ll be able to fully charge its massive battery in under an hour, and then not have to worry about it again for two days on normal usage. Note, however, that the charger isn’t included in the packaging, so you’ll need to purchase one separately.
Interestingly, the Honor 600 doesn’t include wireless charging. This feature is only available on the flagship Honor 600 Pro. It does include a 27W wired reverse charging, which is like using jumping cables to kickstart another smartphone.
Honor 600 Camera: 200MP Night Shooting for Filmmakers

With the increased quality of smartphone cameras, capabilities and features, content creators have been able to create increasingly more professional-looking content directly from their smartphones. In fact, there have been several instances of professional filmmakers also shooting scenes from smartphones for certain projects, including the likes of Zack Snyder (Snow Steam Iron) and Steven Spielberg (Marcus Mumford: Cannibal). While the Honor 600 Pro features the better triple-lens camera setup compared to the Honor 600’s dual-lens camera, it’s the main 200MP camera that is featured on both that’s expected to draw the crowd.
Honor’s number range smartphones have been on my radar since the Honor 200 series. Impressed by the results from its camera, the Honor 400 range was an even bigger sell. The 600 range doesn’t have the same leap between iterations, both featuring a 200MP camera. That said, Honor has made a few adjustments, both to the hardware and software to give users all the tools they’ll need to film that fits right into their pants pockets.
Honor has labelled its 200MP camera as the “Ultra-Clear Night Camera” that features an f/1.9 aperture with a 1/1.4″ sensor and CIPA 6.5 optical image stabilisation. And this last point is nothing to scoff at. The device does an excellent job with its OIS without the use of a gimbal or tripod, allowing users to film in-hand without worrying about too much shaking and the likes.
In addition to this, the Honor 600 includes all the Magic AI features you need. Honor has also been investing heavily into the AI scene, cementing itself as one of the leading brands in this segment. Honor’s MagicOS has some of the best video editing tools available for users. From basic editing like cutting, cropping and stitching, it also includes plenty of extras. Enhancements such as filters, opacity changes, slow-motion, effects and plenty of transitions and template presets to make your editing so much easier, while delivering great visuals. Would Zack Snyder Actually Use the Honor 600?
It’s worth asking seriously. When Snyder shot his short film Snow Steam Iron on an iPhone, it wasn’t a gimmick — it was a deliberate choice driven by portability, low-light capability, and the ability to move fast without a crew. The Honor 600 ticks every one of those boxes, and in some respects pushes further. The 200MP Ultra-Clear Night Camera with its f/1.9 aperture and 1/1.4″ sensor — the largest in its class — is purpose-built for exactly the kind of dark, high-contrast cinematography that defines Snyder’s visual signature. Shadows stay rich without crushing. Detail survives in low light that would reduce a lesser camera to noise.
Then there’s the CIPA 6.5 optical image stabilisation. Snyder’s kinetic, handheld aesthetic — the kind of controlled chaos seen across the DC films — demands a camera that can move with the action without turning the footage into a shaky mess. The Honor 600’s OIS handles that without a gimbal in sight. Add MagicOS’s slow-motion tools and the built-in editing suite, and you have a post-production pipeline that fits in your pocket. Whether Snyder would actually reach for one on a real project is a different question. But the hardware argument? It’s no longer as far-fetched as it sounds.
Is the Honor 600 Worth Buying in 2026?

With all the features of a flagship, including a powerful chipset, beautiful OLED display, two-day battery life, along with the 200MP main camera and AI editing tools, users have everything they need to be the next Hollywood director right in their pocket. All you need now is the vision.
At an impressive price of just $650 (around R14,999) for the Honor 600, the device offers great value for users. It may be a mid-tier smartphone in terms of its price, but delivers an experience that could compare with many flagships. Can it take on the likes of the iPhone 17 Pro, from which it draws inspiration for its design? It may not match it like-for-like across the board, but is more than capable of handling its own against the leading flagships, especially when it comes to content creation and post-production tools.
