Look, a film as big as Avengers: Infinity War was never going to come cheap, but if you believe MovieWeb, it might be the most expensive film of all time at a whopping $400 million. It hasn’t been confirmed by Disney – and we doubt it will be in the near future – but it does sound plausible considering the assembled cast, CGI, and nature of the storyline. Heck, even if Avengers 4 was filmed at the same time, it’s still likely that this movie was astronomical to make.
Currently, the most expensive film title belongs to Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, which cost an estimated $378 million to make. It paid off, though, as Disney made over $1 billion at the global box office. Infinity War should clear that number with ease if their past films are the barometer.
In fact, we expect that Disney will be eyeing Star Wars numbers when it comes to Infinity War, and it’s looking good so far as the film tracks higher than any other Marvel movie. Speaking of Star Wars, MovieWeb also claims that Solo: A Star Wars Story cost over $400 million to make. Now, this is entirely believable when you consider the rumour that Ron Howard reshot most of the movie after Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were fired.
