One of the biggest announcements made during the recent Nintendo Direct was that the much-loved 1993 Game Boy game Zelda: Link’s Awakening would be receiving a remake for the Switch.
While Nintendo didn’t reveal much about the Zelda: Link’s Awakening remake, fans were treated to a beautiful gameplay trailer showcasing the improved visuals. The game will still retain the top down perspective from the original, with a visual style similar to that of 3DS’ A Link to the Past.
Players will once again return to the island of Koholint in search of adventure as they explore various dungeons and defeat dangerous creatures.
Visually, the game looks beautiful with an almost toy-like look to the characters and world that is sure to win over fans of the original. The original game released on the Game Boy in 1993 and later received an updated version on the Game Boy Colour in 1998. It was a critically and commercially very successful, winning over fans hearts as any good Zelda game should.
Nintendo did not reveal any information regarding a release date for Zelda: Link’s Awakening but we are hoping that it is sooner rather than later. We can always do with more Zelda.
