Although Zack Snyder never got to create his own version of Catwoman that doesn’t mean he hasn’t thought about what her story would have been like.
Snyder’s version of Bruce Wayne is older with a lot of unexplored history that was only alluded to in the movies. Unfortunately, DC fans never got to see how Selina Kyle fit into Bruce’s story, but it probably would’ve been epic.
When the topic came up during Snyder’s recent appearance on The Nerd Queens’ League of Mayhem Youtube channel, the director explained exactly how he would have introduced Catwoman to the DCEU.
He also added that Carla Gugino would have been his choice to play Selina Kyle.
“I would say Carla’s Catwoman is perfect,” Zack Snyder revealed. “You would have to say, there’s a flashback to ten years ago, where they were a thing. And then he had to arrest her, I don’t know what happened. Or he had to let her go and it tweaked him. And now, who knows what she’s doing now. She’s running some sort of international antiquities or something, and he needs to retire. And they find each other. Yeah, I do think Carla is… yeah, she is good.”

Although we never got to see Snyder’s Catwoman come to life on screen, fans have been treated to various versions of the character over the years.
- In the 1960s, Julie Newmar took up the mantle of Catwoman in the first two seasons of the Batman television series, alongside Adam West.
- Michelle Pfeiffer played the role to perfection in Tim Burton’s 1992 gothic masterpiece Batman Returns.
- Halle Berry did her best to bring a reimagined version of the character to life in the much-maligned, standalone Catwoman movie in 2004.
- Anne Hathaway’s Selina Kyle was an updated, more realistic take on the character that fit into the gritty world Christopher Nolan created in 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises.
- From 2014 to 2019 Camren Bicondova starred as a street-smart, teenage Selina Kyle who slowly builds a relationship with a young Bruce Wayne in Gotham, the television series.
In 2022 fans will get to see Zoe Kravitz’s take on the role. The actress will play Selina Kyle opposite Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne in The Batman. The film is set in a standalone universe with no storyline connections to Snyder’s DCEU movies.
What do you think? Would you like to see Carla Gugino as Catwoman alongside Ben Affleck’s Batman in the DCEU?
