Developer Niantic Labs, who was responsible for the massively successful Pokemon GO mobile game, has revealed that they are working on a new AR game set in the Harry Potter universe, titled Wizards Unite.
Wizards Unite will share similar gameplay elements to Niantic Lab’s previous AR games Pokemon GO and Ingress, with players collecting power-ups, defending various locations and, of course, exploring their real-world environments. The developer will be partnering with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment in bringing the beloved franchise to life.
A post on the developer’s website reveals more about the game:
“Players will learn spells, explore their real world neighborhoods and cities to discover & fight legendary beasts and team up with others to take down powerful enemies.”
Rumours have been circulating for some time that developer Niantic Labs might be busy working on a Harry Potter mobile game. The question remains, will Wizards Unite prove just as popular as Pokemon GO or will it be just another quick cash grab?
