Have you ever wondered what the Avengers movies would have looked like if Zack Snyder directed them? Well, one comic book movie super-fan has the answer.
Using Zack Snyder’s Justice League trailer as inspiration, YouTube content creator Gugga Leunnam created a mash-up trailer for Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
The video is cut to mirror the aesthetic, tone and feel of Snyder’s trailer which debuted at DC’s virtual FanDome event last weekend.
The fan’s re-cut Marvel trailer makes use of various scenes from both phase three Avengers movies. To match Snyder’s filmography, the video includes sombre close-ups of the character’s faces, slow-motion action sequences, and an adjusted aspect ratio to match the Snyder Cut’s IMAX dimensions.
And just like the trailer for 2021’s Justice League, the clip also uses Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah as its background score.
It’s amazing what one can do with a little creative editing. The trailer definitely reiterates the popularity of Snyder’s distinctive authorial style.
The release of Zack Snyder’s version of the Justice League has been one of the most talked-about events in the world of comic book movies this year. The movie is said to have a much darker tone than the original and will be released on HBO Max in four one-hour instalments.
The film’s trailer features scenes from 2017’s theatrical release, mixed with unused footage of action shots and characters that never made it to the final cut.
Some of these scenes include Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) rescuing Iris West (Kiersey Clemons) from an accident and the first appearance of supervillain Darkseid (Ray Porter) – whose uncle Steppenwolf serves as the Justice League’s primary antagonist.
