Director Danny Boyle reunites the original cast from Trainspotting (Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle) for the sequel. Here is our first look at Trainspotting 2 – billed as T2 Trainspotting.
The trailer sees all the main original characters (Renton, Spud, Sick Boy, Begbie and Diane) reunite, with a modern update of the first film’s classic voiceover: “Choose life, choose Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and hope that someone, somewhere cares.” Author Irvine Welsh recently revealed that the sequel will see his much-loved characters Renton, Begbie, Sick Boy and Spud find a “very innovative” way to get involved in the world of pornography.
First there was an opportunity……then there was a betrayal. Twenty years have gone by. Much has changed but just as much remains the same. Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) returns to the only place he can ever call home. They are waiting for him: Spud (Ewen Bremner), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), and Begbie (Robert Carlyle). Other old friends are waiting too: sorrow, loss, joy, vengeance, hatred, friendship, love, longing, fear, regret, diamorphine, self-destruction and mortal danger, they are all lined up to welcome him, ready to join the dance.
The original film was a box office smash, pulling in £4.7 million in its opening weekend. T2 is set for release on January 27, 2017.
