Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks teams up with oscar-winning director Clint Eastwood in Sully, a biopic about the “Miracle on the Hudson”.
Similar to Denzel Washington’s Flight, Sully sees Captain Sullenberger glide his plane onto the Hudson River, saving the lives of 155 people onboard. Based on the book Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters, Sully definitely looks like good Oscar-bait.
Sully movie hits the big screen September 9.
From Oscar-winning director Clint Eastwood comes Warner Bros. Pictures’ drama Sully, starring Oscar winner Tom Hanks as Captain Chesley Sullenberger.
On January 15, 2009, the world witnessed the “Miracle on the Hudson” when Captain Sullenberger glided his disabled plane onto the frigid waters of the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 aboard. However, even as he was being heralded by the public and the media for his unprecedented feat of aviation skill, an investigation was unfolding that threatened to destroy his reputation and his career.
Sully also stars Aaron Eckhart as a co-pilot, Jeff Skiles, and Oscar nominee Laura Linney as Lorraine Sullenberger.
The film reunites Eastwood with several of his longtime collaborators: director of photography Tom Stern and production designer James J. Murakami, costume designer Deborah Hopper; and editor Blu Murray.
