Marvel has finally shared the first trailer for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (the very first MCU film with an Asian protagonist) – and the two-minute clip is certainly not lacking in action.
Simu Liu as Shang-Chi
The films thrilling teaser was released shortly after Canadian actor Simu Liu (best known for his role as Jung Kim in the hilarious sitcom Kim’s Convenience) shared the first look at a poster for the upcoming film on Twitter.
“Whoever said that you could only RECEIVE presents on your birthday? Today, I’m giving you your VERY FIRST LOOK at the teaser poster for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings!!” Liu captioned his birthday tweet.
The poster gives us a good look at Shang-Chi’s (Simu Liu) full superhero costume, which we unfortunately don’t get to see much of in the trailer. However, the trailer does showcase some really well-choreographed martial arts scenes and snazzy visual effects.

From what we can see from the trailer, the film follows Shang-Chi as he tries to live a normal life in the City of San Francisco – that is until his father summons him back from his mundane life of valeting and partying to re-join the clandestine Ten Rings Organisation and finally rule by his side.
Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings stars Simu Liu (Bad Blood) as Shang-Chi, Michelle Yeoh (Crazy Rich Asians) as Jiang Nan, Awkwafina (Raya and the Last Dragon) as Katy, and Tony Leung (Theory of Ambitions) as Wenwu/ the Mandarin. The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Just Mercy). Cretton also co-wrote the script for the film with screenwriters David Callaham (Mortal Kombat) and Andrew Lanham (Just Mercy).

This definitely looks like a movie to enjoy in theatres when it is released on September 3, 2021, so be sure to pencil this one into your calendars.
