If you didn’t know, Sony’s Spider-Man universe is expanding beyond Venom soon. There’s a lot riding on Daniel Espinosa’s Morbius, but, based on the footage from the film, we’re in for a good time. A new clip shows Jared Leto’s transformation from Dr Michael Morbius to the blood-thirsty Living Vampire.
And, oh boy, it’s creepy stuff.

From the looks of things, Sony’s third Marvel film will be introducing horror to the comic book universe. A pale and frail Jared Leto’s transformation in the Morbius footage certainly confirms how dark things will get. Just have a look at his bat-like nose, his long claws and those pointy fangs. From this footage, we can tell that the visual effects are on point and there’s certainly a darker tone to the film’s setting.
Of course, if Jared Leto’s Morbius is a huge success, we can expect a lot more Sony supervillain origin stories moving forward. They’ve already got Kraven the Hunter in the works.
In fact, the only thing missing from this world currently is Spider-Man himself. However, that might change pretty soon. There are already rumours that Venom will be showing up in No Way Home. But could we see Morbius too? It’s not impossible.
The ghastly vampiric creature has been known to sway between being a good guy and, of course, using his powers for darker reasons.
What most people don’t know is that the Marvel character was initially set to appear in a sequel to Wesley Snipe’s Blade. A deleted scene shows him standing on a rooftop looking down at the vampire killer.
Along with the Morbius clip, Sony also released a new poster image that gives a closer look at Jared Leto’s transformed features. The picture is cut in half down the middle to show his snarling vampire face, with its dripping fangs and glowing red eyes.
