It seems we haven’t seen Groot’s full potential yet. According to Vin Diesel, Groot could be a whole lot bigger in upcoming films.
We’ve seen Baby Groot and we’ve seen a fairly large Groot in the first Guardians Of The Galaxy film, but are we ready for an even bigger monstrous Groot? Speaking to USA Today, actor Vin Diesel, who voices the character in both movies, says the Groot of the first movie isn’t his full size.
“The first Groot we saw was a freshman in college,” he says. “This Groot is in nursery school. Wait ’til we see the full-fledged working-man Groot. Wait ’til we see Groot!”
As for which Groot he prefers, Diesel does not see much difference between them. To him, they are “one and the same.”
“It’s like saying, ‘Who do I like better, grade-school Vin or high-school Vin?,” he jokes. “Duh, they are the same, but high-school Vin could drive some fast cars.”
Diesel is set to return and voice the character in Avengers: Infinity War and Guardians of The Galaxy 3, which James Gunn is currently working on. The actor has also mentioned that he is very keen on a spin-off focusing on Rocket and Groot.
“James Gunn has always wanted a Rocket and Groot movie,” he says. “And I know that Disney is very much into being successful. And the most successful poster in Disney’s future is the poster that has ‘Groot vs. Hulk.’ (The world) cannot wait to see it.”
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opens on May 5.
In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Peter Quill and his fellow Guardians are hired by a powerful alien race, the Sovereign, to protect their precious batteries from invaders. When it is discovered that Rocket has stolen the items they were sent to guard, the Sovereign dispatch their armada to search for vengeance. As the Guardians try to escape, the mystery of Peter’s parentage is revealed.
