With numerous collaborations in 2018, the Vans X NASA partnership was one of the most eagerly anticipated drops of the year. Vans commemorates 60 years of space exploration and innovation with the launch of the Vans Space Voyager collection.

Vans Space Voyager - NASA Celebrates 60 Years Of Space Exploration

Paying homage to the world leader in space exploration and discovery, the Space Voyager collection features a mix of interstellar footwear and apparel, which were inspired by the original space suits, showcasing unique design details, which includes exposed foam and interchangeable patch insignia. To celebrate the 6-decade milestone, Vans has chosen two silhouettes from their classics archive in the form of the Sk8-Hi and Old Skool. There are eight silhouettes available for the collection, which will be available in both adult and toddler sizing, which includes the Sk8-Hi MTE, Old Skool and Classic Slip-On models.

Two Sk8-Hi 46 MTE DX styles feature full-grain leather uppers, exposed foam, as well as the NASA Meatball Insignia on the quarter panels. The look is completed with a black lacing system. When it comes to the Old Skool styles, Vans introduces the iconic orange colourway, to resemble the space suits of yesteryear. The design includes a black NASA worm logotype and lacing details, alongside a clean all-white version which showcases an exposed foam collar and rigid marshmallow outsole. For the toddler silhouettes, the pack includes a Slip-On featuring a black galaxy print upper with a glitter gum outsole, as well as a white Sk8-Hi MTE outfitted with a black space boot inspired outsole. The Sk8-Hi MTE styles feature Vans MTE 360™ technology that enhances heat retention around the foot and improves moisture management within each shoe, along with a durable lugged outsole for increased traction.

The collection is complemented with the addition of three jackets to the capsule. This includes the Vans Space Anorak in black and orange and the Vans Space Torrey Padded MTE jacket, in two colourways, which include Apollo 11 graphic detailing to honor man’s first journey on the moon. Then there’s the Vans Space Pullover hoodie in black, the Vans Space Man long-sleeved tee in white, as well as a few accessories thrown in round off the collection. These includes the Grind Skate Duffel in space orange and the Snag Plus Backpack.

The Vans Space Voyager capsule collection is set to drop this Friday, 14 December 2018 and will be available at Vans stores across South Africa.
