As is the case before each E3, this year has seen its fair share of leaks. A recent one hinted at a new Watch Dogs game set in London, and now Ubisoft has officially teased the next game in the franchise.
The recent leaks, thanks to a listing that popped up on Amazon UK, revealed that the next Watch Dogs game is titled Watch Dogs Legion. The leak also revealed that the game would make use of a unique mechanic that will see the player able to control any NPC in the game.
The teaser posted on the game’s official Twitter account features an animated version of the now familiar franchise logo followed by the text “God Save the NPCs. Reveal at E3”. Of course, the post could make reference to the British saying “God Save the Queen”, which would hint at it being set in London as the leaks suggested. Moreover, the mention of NPCs could refer to the ability to control NPCs as also revealed by the leak.

Story-wise, these characters are supposedly new recruits to the hacktivist group DeadSec. If you remember, they were the lead characters in the series’ first two Watch Dogs games. According to reports, you can even experience events in the game differently simply by using a different character each time.
Luckily, we won’t have long to wait as Ubisoft’s E3 conference is just around the corner.
The previous games in the franchise were set the United States, with the first game letting players explore Chicago and the second game seeing players cause havoc in San Fransico. In our opinion, London would make a perfect setting for the next game.
The new Watch Dogs joins a number of high-profile game announcements ahead of E3, including Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding.
