Variety is reporting that Robert Pattinson is in final talks and the frontrunner to be the next Batman in Matt Reeves upcoming DC movie, which is slated for 2021.
Pattinson would don the cape as a younger Batman following Ben Affleck’s exit from the role earlier this year. The actor has been rumoured for the part for quite some time, although some dismissed the choice and suggested that he would play a villain instead.
Robert Pattinson has come a long way since Twilight. His work on Good Time and The Rover has certainly redeemed him as an actor. If you’re still struggling to take him seriously, his latest film, High Life, a deeply twisted sci-fi epic along the lines of Event Horizon, should convince you of his acting chops.
Still, given the past uproar regarding Affleck playing Batman, we can probably expect the same outcry with this casting.
It remains uncertain whether Robert Pattinson‘s Batman will join the DCEU alongside Aquaman and Wonder Woman or if he’ll only feature in the solo films directed by Reeves.
Warner Bros. have yet to officially announce the casting.
