It’s officially morphin’ time as BOOM! Studios have dropped a trailer for the newly released Mighty Morphin Power Rangers#111. This latest issue of Power Rangers sets in motion an event that has been a year in the making -the massive yearlong “Darkest Hour” special.
In this thrilling new storyline, the trailer offers a sneak peek into the intense battles and high-stakes challenges that await the beloved Power Rangers. The clip opens with the Power Rangers’ longtime foe, Mistress Vile, casting an ominous (yet poetic) spell that threatens to plunge the world into eternal darkness. As the evil spell takes hold and spreads throughout the universe, it seems that Vile has finally won. However, we are teased with the possibility of a glimmer of hope as the Power Rangers are set to receive help from “the last team they’d expect.” But who could this mysterious team be? We are sure to find out soon, as the much-anticipated Darkest Hour event finally kicks off.
Darkest Hour is a Power Rangers comic event spanning 12 months, beginning in the pages of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #111. This event promises to be an epic battle between good and evil, as The Rangers are set to face longtime foe Rita Repulsa in her most evil form, Mistress Vile. Vile has taken control of the Grid and Dark Specter in what looks to be a final battle for the universe. But with some help from a new team of unlikely heroes, the Rangers may just have a fighting chance. As the stakes get personal, the beloved heroes will be forced to make a critical decision that could determine the fate of one of their own. You can check out the official synopsis for the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #111 below.
“Mistress Vile has won, or so it seems, with control of the Grid and Dark Specter’s infections spreading through the universe! The Rangers are presented with the impossible choice of saving either their friend or the universe against Dark Specter and find themselves separated and stranded Rangers until they receive help from the last team they’d expect, but not be the help they were hoping for.”
The Darkest Hour event has been perfectly timed to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, adding an extra layer of excitement and nostalgia for fans. Head writer Melissa Flores and artist Simona Di Gianfelice have been working closely for the last year to create the epic event that, according to the trailer, will “forever change the Power Rangers universe”.
This highly anticipated event will effectively serve as a climax to several previous Power Rangers comic runs, with events from Recharged tie-ins Power Rangers Unlimited: Hyperforce and The Coinless leading directly to it.
You can currently get your hands on the latest issue from writer Melissa Flores, artist Simona Di Gianfelice, colourist Raúl Angulo, and letterer Ed Dukeshire in comic shops and digital storefronts. With so much at stake, we can’t wait to see how the epic Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #111 story unfolds.
