Developer Frogwares has released an eerie trailer for their upcoming Lovecraftian-inspired game The Sinking City and it’s all kinds of weird.
The Sinking City trailer doesn’t feature any gameplay, yet it is just as creepy as you would expect a game based on Lovecraftian lore to be. What we know about the game so far is that it takes place in the fictional village of Oakmont, which was once a flourishing industrial city. Unfortunately (and maybe even strangely), the village was devastated by a flood. Players will take control of the game’s protagonist, Detective Charles Winfield Reed, as he investigates mysterious happenings in the village. The trailer shows Reed brandishing a Tommy gun, investigating the village and as one can expect it doesn’t take long for strange things to happen. The trailer is filled with weird creatures, loads of water, ancient eldritch symbols and even a little statue of Cthulhu himself. Each time something terrible happens, time seems to reset with Reed experiencing everything over and over again. The tone of each trailer that has been released has been suitably eerie and has us excited to see more of the game. Hopefully, the developer will show some more gameplay in the near future as what we have seen so far has us excited for the game’s release.
The Sinking City is set for release in March next year for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
