Despite a lack of news from DC during this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, fans were buzzing over a billboard and a banner asking for The Snyder Cut, Zack Snyder’s version of Justice League, over the weekend. In an attempt to get Warner Bros. to release the original cut of the film, and also to raise money and bringing attention to suicide awareness and prevention, fans from across the world have made their voices heard. Sadly, the studio has yet to respond. Even sadder news is that the Wikipedia page for the Snyder Cut might be shutting down.
As Newton’s third law states: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. And some fans have grown tired and irritated by the constant requests for the film. So much so that certain people feel that a page dedicated to The Snyder Cut on Wikipedia is completely unnecessary. As such, moderators on the free online encyclopedia are fighting it out.
Wikipedia moderator Gargus-SCP believes that the article originator, Fezmar9, is showing editorial bias:
“The page goes into such excessive detail on every tiny aspect of Zack Snyder’s Justice League and its process in reaching theatres that it seems unlikely to interest or meaningfully inform anyone except dedicated fans of the director’s work who are heavily invested in seeing the ‘Snyder Cut’ released. In fact, it also seems unlikely this subject rises to the standards of notability for such a minutely detailed article, and largely exists so it can be shared in celebration that Wikipedia thinks the Snyder Cut notable enough to deserve such a lengthy article. Smacks of fan bias at every turn.”
Of course, Fezmar9 denies the claims:
“Editor bias is a pretty bold claim. What bias do I have and what evidence do you have that I have one? I thought it was an interesting topic and decided to make an article about it. I felt I neutrally added information whether it was positive or negative. Both The Snyder Cut (2016-2017) and #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement sections include criticism paragraphs. If I was biased toward the subject, wouldn’t I omit that information? And if you feel it contains any biases, wouldn’t it be easier to just adjust the language you feel is biased than delete the whole article?”
Over the last few months, Zack Snyder has released various images and concept art to keep the momentum going. There is footage of the director admitting that a completed version of the film exists and that it’s currently in the hands of the studio.
Over the weekend, Snyder even revealed that, in his version of the film, Wonder Woman is the one to defeat Steppenwolf by beheading him.
The Snyder Cut Wikipedia page is still up as of this writing. But it might not be for much longer.
