Netflix has released a brand new trailer for The Witcher, the upcoming fantasy show based on the popular novels and video game series. Fans will finally find out when the show will be available to watch.
The Witcher series trailer shows glimpses of Geralt of Rivia, played by ex-Superman actor Henry Cavill, taking on all manner of monsters, from the more human to the absolutely grotesque, using his sword and Witcher abilities.
Judging by the trailer, it seems that the show will be just as bloody as the novels (and video game adaptations), which is something fans will no doubt welcome with open arms.
The trailer not only shows Geralt in action but shows what seems to be the first meeting between him and his future love interest, Yennefer, played by Anya Chalotra.
I have to say that as well as looking the part, Cavill nails the emotionless tone that Geralt is so well known for in the video game adaptations.
The series will release on Netflix on the 20th of December 2019, just in time for the festive season.
As a fan of the books and video games, I was expecting the series to miss the mark completely, but my opinion about the series has slowly changed from one of scepticism to one of cautious excitement. Although the trailer does show both Yennefer and Ciri, let’s hope some more familiar faces make an appearance.
I’m happy to say that Netflix’s The Witcher series is turning out to be exactly what fans were hoping it would be.
After a very successful first season, Netflix has announced a new six-part, live-action spinoff series, The Witcher: Blood Origin.
