We’ve seen snips of Disney+’s WandaVision series before, however, the new first full trailer finally gives us a good look at the perfect sitcom life Vision imagined for the “unusual couple”. Of course, this is set against the backdrop of the real threats the two face as a superhero couple.
And it’s eerie stuff.
Starring the MCU’s Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany as Wanda Maximoff and Vision, the surreal show, which is the first series from Marvel Studios streaming exclusively on Disney+, is described as “a blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff and Vision, two super-powered beings living idealised suburban lives, begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems”.
Moving from the ’50s black and white sitcom structure (Bewitched vibes) to a darker, contemporary superhero feel, the trailer shows us just how the couple escape real-life difficulties by creating a world of their own. Is this all the telekinetic hero’s doing or is there something more sinister at play?
One of the highlights includes footage of Vision’s original comic book costume.
In addition to the two leads, WandaVision, a six-episode series, also stars Kat Dennings and Randall Park, who are reprising their respective MCU roles of Darcy Lewis and Agent Jimmy Woo.
Captain Marvel writer Jac Schaeffer serves as showrunner.
