While it was first teased earlier this week, we now finally know what the next Resident Evil game, Project Resistance, is all about.
Project Resistance, although not a true sequel in the franchise, is set in the same universe. The game, however, is not your traditional Resident Evil game but rather a 4 vs 1 asymmetrical co-op experience.
The spin-off will see four players (human survivors) trying to escape a secret facility while one player takes control of the devious bad guy called Mastermind, who gets to kill the other players.
What is interesting is that the player doesn’t directly control Mastermind but instead, he controls various cameras and can summon traps and zombies (as well as Mr X) to deal with the survivors. He is even able to lock doors and trap the survivors in rooms filled with zombies, of course.
The human survivors will need to work together, use strategy, interact with various objects and run around if they are to successfully evade Mastermind.
It sounds quite similar to the Friday the 13th and Dead by Daylight games, except that you don’t directly control the bad guy. Each character will also have their own unique abilities, such as being able to heal other players, knockdown enemies or hacking security cameras.
The game will have a closed beta from the 4th of October until the 7th of October, when fans of the series will finally be able to see if it’s worth the hype.
