2K and Hanger 13 have announced that the The Mafia Trilogy (Mafia, Mafia 2 and Mafia 3) will be getting remasters. And it’s an offer you can’t refuse.
The Mafia Trilogy remasters will include the first game, which will be called Mafia: Definitive Edition. This remaster looks more like a complete remake, sporting impressive looking visuals, and seems to be running in a brand new engine, judging by some of the screenshots. The game is even touted as having an expanded story.
According to a post on the Microsoft store, it seems Mafia: Definitive Edition could be releasing the 27th of August 2020.
The Mafia II: Definitive Edition, on the other hand, will release next week on the 19th of May 2020, if a Microsoft store listing is to be believed. The game will be more of a remaster and will include all of the DLC that was released for the game.
There is no news yet on when we can expect the remaster for Mafia III.
The original game released way back in 2002, with the sequel releasing eight years later and the third instalment releasing in 2016.
The games are set in various times and in various fictional locales.
Most of the games revolve around you working your way up through the ranks of the Mafia.
The Mafia, Mafia II and Mafia III games were initially seen as GTA clones. However, those willing to give the games a chance say the franchise proved to be so much more and could stand side-by-side with the GTA games in most respects.
It’s great to see the The Mafia Trilogy finally getting remasters after so many years.
