During Sony’s State of Play livestream event on Wednesday, Naughty Dog revealed brand new gameplay footage for their upcoming action-adventure game, The Last of Us Part II.
Of course, the new gameplay footage is both parts beautiful and brutal. It’s quite astounding to see how much attention to detail Naughty Dog has put into The Last of Us Part II‘s visuals and animations.
In the gameplay trailer, we see Ellie sneaking thought an area controlled by the WLF, a brand new faction that players will encounter. This time around stealth forms a larger part of the gameplay. Ellie even uses water as a way to sneak into an area unseen.
We then also see Ellie using all manner of brutal stealth attacks.
It’s quite easy to take on one or two enemies stealthily and quickly, but when it comes to groups of enemies, be they human or infected, more planning and strategic thinking is required.
We also get a quick glimpse of Ellie upgrading her weapons and crafting items. Weapon crafting is done at workbenches and Naughty Dag wanted players to become attached to the weapon they spend so much time upgrading.
The Last of Us Part II is a couple of weeks away from launch and, although it has attracted its fair share of controversy and been delayed multiple times, we can’t help but get more excited every time we see the game in action.
