Winter is here. HBO has finally set a date for the last six episodes of the fantasy epic. The 8th and final season of Game of Thrones premieres April 14th on HBO.
A new teaser for the upcoming season shows us Arya Stark, Sansa Stark, and Jon Snow travelling down the family crypt below Winterfell before they come face-to-face with an unseen icy threat. Is this the arrival of the White Walkers and their undead army? Or is there something more revealed here? Perhaps they’re connected to the Night King in some way? Or maybe it’s just a haunting fever dream?
Regardless, it’s a depressing little family reunion, but one we can’t wait to see.
For fans, it’s been a long wait. However, with a promise of six episodes, which will all have feature-length runtimes of approximately 80 minutes or longer, it seems worth it. There is no doubt that the final season of Game of Thrones — which took 55 nights to film – will be the biggest production ever shown on television. Expect something incredibly epic.
