It’s something that fans have been asking for over the years. And, after all this time, it was finally announced that a remake of Final Fantasy 7 is being developed. During Sony’s State of Play event for May, we got yet another look at this highly anticipated remake.
A new teaser trailer for the Final Fantasy 7 features Cloud, Barret, Jessie and Briggs on a mission to blow up the Mako reactor. We also see Cloud meeting Aerith for the first time, as well as the team taking on various bad guys.
Obviously, the trailer would not be complete if it didn’t at least give us a glimpse of one of the game’s many boss battles and, luckily, it didn’t disappoint as we saw Cloud and the gang facing off against the Guard Scorpion.
When the remake was first announced, fans were worried that it would turn out to be a cobbled together game with shinier graphics. Judging from everything we’ve seen so far, the remake looks like it was remade from the ground up and feels more like a reimagining of sorts, which is a good thing.
Whether the game will still use the episodic model is still to be confirmed. Square hasn’t said much about this after initially stating that the game would use this model for its release.
Unfortunately, we still don’t have any release date for the Final Fantasy 7 remake, yet.
