Bethesda released the first ever gameplay trailer for the upcoming Doom Eternal during this year’s QuakeCon and it’s brutal.
Continuing after the events of the 2016 reboot, Doom Eternal sees the demons invading Earth. Not only did the gameplay trailer feature all the gore and fast-paced action we’ve come to expect from the much-loved and revered series, but we also got to see some new and interesting weapons such as the extendable blade and the Super Shotgun Meat Hook. While Doom games have always placed the focus squarely on fast-paced and brutal action, Doom Eternal seems to bring more of an emphasis on traversing around the environments as quickly and seamlessly as possible while still smashing your demon foes to bits. We are glad to see that Bethesda seems to be building on the success of the Doom 2016 reboot in a meaningful way, adding new mechanics which will help make the sequel even better.
Along with the new trailer, Bethesda also revealed that the game will not only be releasing on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC but the Nintendo’s Switch will also get in on the action. While we don’t know exactly when Doom Eternal will be released, we do know that it should be sometime in 2019. We can’t wait to smash some demon heads again.
