Robert Pattinson has come a long way since Twilight. His work on Good Time and The Rover has certainly redeemed him as an actor. If you’re still struggling to take him seriously, have a look at the trailer for High Life, a deeply twisted sci-fi epic along the lines of Event Horizon.
With an 85% Rotten Tomatoes score, the visually arresting High Life is already receiving praise from critics as “intense, frightening, moving, and entirely new”. Basically, everything Prometheus wasn’t.
And based on the trailer, they might be right. I mean, who knew that a child steadily repeating the word “Dada” could be so unnerving?
Monte (Robert Pattinson) and his baby daughter are the last survivors of a damned and dangerous mission to the outer reaches of the solar system. The crew death-row inmates led by a doctor (Juliette Binoche) with sinister motives has vanished. As the mystery of what happened onboard the ship is unravelled, father and daughter must rely on each other to survive as they hurtle toward the oblivion of a black hole. A staggering and primal film about love and intimacy, suffused with anguished memories of a lost Earth, High Life is a haunting, thrilling achievement.
The cast also includes Andre Benjamin, Mia Goth, Lars Eidinger, Agata Buzek, Ewan Mitchell, Jessie Ross, Claire Tran and Oscar-winner Juliette Binoche.
