Sad news today as it was announced that the developer behind the Walking Dead and Batman: The Enemy Within series of games, Telltale, has been hit by massive layoffs.
Telltale Games has laid off around 250 employees in what it calls a “majority studio closure”. According to a statement released by the developer, the company that helped change the landscape of narrative-driven games with such gems as the award-winning The Walking Dead seems to have been experiencing hard times, especially during the past year.
Unfortunately, this means that the planned second season of The Wolf Among Us and the upcoming Stanger Things series will no longer see the light of day. The studio is left with a skeleton crew of around 25 employees who have stayed to help fulfil obligations to its board and partners.
CEO Pete Hawley released the below statement on social media explaining the situation:

It seems that fans of The Walking Dead series will most probably never see how protagonist Clementine’s story ends as the developer has yet to release a statement about the final episodes.
It’s truly sad to see such a talented studio close down, especially one that helped prove that narrative-driven game still have a large role to play in the gaming space. Telltale, you will be sorely missed.
