Swamp Thing is coming to the DC Universe this Friday, and it looks spectacular. Just judging from the scare-heavy trailer alone, which is equal parts scary as it is interesting, the show looks set to be one of DC’s best.
A long-time fan favourite, the plant-based comic book hero (played by Derek Mears) is briefly seen, however. Instead, the horror-style trailer focuses on a mysterious sickness that sweeps over a small Louisiana town.
Despite recent production problems that saw the show shut down three episodes before it was due to end production, Swamp Thing is still a big seller for DC. And it looks like they’re going all out to ensure it.
The show follows Abby Arcane as she investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe.
Swamp Thing stars Andy Bean as Alec Holland, Crystal Reed as Abby Arcane, Derek Mears as the monster form of the character, Maria Sten as Liz Tremayne, Jeryl Prescott as Madame Xanadu, Virginia Madsen as Maria Sunderland, Will Patton as Avery Sunderland, with Kevin Durand playing the villain of the series, Jason Woodrue, aka Floronic Man, a brilliant but abrasive scientist who gets transmogrified super-villain into the super-villain, and Ian Ziering as Daniel Cassidy, a.k.a. the Blue Devil.
