Good news Superman fans! Henry Cavill is in talks to reprise his role as the Man of Steel in Warner Bros’ DC Universe.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a Man of Steel sequel in the works but rumours suggest that Cavill will be back in a different way. This could be as a supporting character or in a cameo role.
So when will we see Cavill suit up again?
It won’t be in Wonder Woman 1984 or The Suicide Squad since those movies have already wrapped. And Superman isn’t expected to make a special appearance in Matt Reeves’ The Batman either.
However, Cavill could have a guest spot in Shazam 2, Aquaman 2 or Black Adam which are scheduled to begin production once the corona virus safety restrictions are lifted.
Warner Bros decision to sideline such an iconic character is a little strange. Unlike the feature film rights red-tape that’s prevented Marvel from making a stand-alone Hulk movie, DC does own the feature film rights to Superman in its entirety.
While the reasons for doing so are shrouded in mystery, the most likely one is that the studio wants to see how popular Cavill’s Superman is before moving forward with a new solo story. Or they could just be out of fresh story ideas.

Superman has already made a cameo appearance in Shazam! (although it wasn’t Henry Cavill in the suit). While Cavill made a surprise appearance on Zack Snyder’s Vero watch party for Man of Steel last week.
