If you’re a devout Android user, you may have been a little disgruntled by the unveiling of Super Mario Run, by Shigeru Miyamoto himself, at the launch of Apple’s new iPhone 7. At the time, the side-scrolling, endless runner platformer video game was touted as an iOS exclusive, which is true, but only to a point.
Thankfully, in the hours following the announcement, Nintendo also announced that the world’s favourite plumber would also be making his way to Android as well, although only sometime in Q1 2017. iOS owners will enjoy a few months headstart thanks to the exclusivity, but Android users should be quite accustomed to such tactics.
During the same time yesterday, Nintendo, once again, saw its stocks jump quite drastically, falling just $1 short of the benchmark set during the height of the Pokémon GO craze a few weeks back.
You can check out some of the gameplay to wet your appetite before the initial December launch. It may be worth dusting off your copy of New Super Mario Bros., as the game seems to be based quite a lot on the 2006 game.
