With the success of the original Super Mario Maker on the Nintendo Wii U, it was only a matter of time before Nintendo would announce a sequel. During the recent Nintendo Direct, it was announced that Super Mario Maker 2 would be heading to the Switch.
Along with the announcement, Nintendo also released a trailer showcasing some of the new tools level creators will have at their disposal in Super Mario Maker 2. One big new addition is the ability to create slopes, it’s a feature fans of the series have been asking for since the original game’s release.
The game will also include assets from Super Mario 3D World, which will allow players to create more modern looking levels. The original game was released in 2015 on the Nintendo Wii U and was one of the redeeming factors of the Wii U console. The game encouraged players to create and share their own Super Mario levels and quickly gained quite a following. There is just something magical about creating your own level and watching others fail and fail again to complete it.
Super Mario Maker 2 is scheduled to release later this year and we can’t wait to start building some more devious levels.
