Since it’s release in February 2016, Street Fighter V has been received with mixed reviews from gamers, journalists and fans alike. Yesterday, 29th August 2017, Capcom released their latest DLC, which included a host of new character costumes, along with an all-new character, Menat. It’s this character that has stirred things up once again, bringing with it a fresh take on the game itself.
Menat’s backstory establishes her as an apprentice of a famous Italian fortune teller, giving her magic spells as part of her fighting style. In addition, she makes use of a crystal sphere, which controls her Soul Power. She uses this as the base of all her attacks, giving her an advantage at long range. The crystal ball can also be used to disrupt an opponent’s attacks and later call it back. The fighting style requires a balancing act of knowing exactly when to deploy the crystal ball as a defensive weapon or to unleash it to create fantastic spells, creating unique sequences in each fight.
But, Menat has another alluring factor that has drawn comment from fans across the world – her walk. The internet has been abuzz with talk of her walk, with numerous Twitter, Facebook and Instagram posts featuring this playful saunter. It’s not every day that character marches onto the scene with such overwhelming popularity, which has made a lot of players take notice.
