Soon you will not only be using Facebook to connect to your long lost aunt or brag about your recent overseas holiday but, thanks to a recent deal, you will be able to stream Blizzard games on Facebook.
Blizzard has announced that they would be working with Facebook in implementing their Live API into its games. Players will be able to use their Facebook Login to access Blizzard games on PC. These games include Overwatch, Hearthstone, World of Warcraft, Heroes of the Storm, Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2.
Although implementing basic streaming is the current priority, it was also announced that they would be working on a Go Live streaming function that would enable players to immediately stream gameplay to their Facebook timeline with the press of a button. This will allow friends to view the stream directly on their timeline and will enable them to chat with each other while streaming.
Blizzard’s Executive Vice President of Corporate Operations also said that they were working closely with Facebook on integration for Overwatch as well as their recent slate of games.
This new deal will enable Facebook to become a destination for those who love streaming games (and watching game streams) and will, in turn, give Blizzard access to Facebook’s extensive user base.
