Blizzard announced during BlizzCon that one of the developer’s most popular titles, StarCraft II, will be going free-to-play.
StarCraft II fans will be able to play through the entire Wings of Liberty campaign for free starting November the 14th. Not only will the campaign be free but players will also be able to access the ranked multiplayer ladder, although unlocking it means earning 10 First Wins of the day in Unranked or Versus AI matches. All of the current and upcoming commanders will also be free to play up to level five, while co-op commanders will remain free to level up as much as players want.
Already own Wings of Liberty? Fear not as Blizzard also has a little something for you. Those who already own the Wings of Liberty campaign will be able to get the game’s Heart of the Swarm expansion for free when logging in between November the 8th and December the 8th.
Along with this announcement, Blizzard also revealed a new Overwatch hero, a new animated short and a few other surprises.
