A new Star Wars fan film by Side Project Studios explores the era between Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope. Days Past is a departure from the usual visual effects extravaganza and tells a different kind of Star Wars story.
Even though there aren’t any lightsaber battles and laser shootouts, the force is very strong with Days Past. Written, directed and edited by Aaron Kunkel, unlike most fan films, this one focuses on character and gives us a look at the everyday lives of people in the Star Wars universe. Fans of the franchise will recognise familiar costumes and set-pieces neatly hidden away within the frames of the film. In fact, Days Past remarkably similar in tone to Rogue One.
Years after the collapse of The Republic, Valera has carved out a life for herself in the galaxy’s outer rim. But when an old student returns, she is thrust back into the life she left behind.
Very well done. Did not need a whole lot of special effects and battles to add to the story… Well acted and well thought out. Nice job.
