According to quite a number of Star Wars fans, there was a lot wrong with Star Wars Battlefront, but there was also a lot that it did right. Fans have been waiting anxiously for news about Star Wars Battlefront 2 hoping that it would correct all the first game’s mistakes. Now it seems that EA might be suggesting the game could release in the fall of 2017.
It seems EA has been hinting that Star Wars Battlefront 2 might be releasing in Fall 2017 during it’s most recent earnings call. It was already confirmed in a previous earnings call by EA CFO Blake Jorgensen that EA was looking at releasing the next installment in the franchise “a year from now”. Jorgensen also indicated at EA’s 4th quarter earnings call, back in May 2016, that EA plans to release “a Star Wars title a year for the next three to four years”, and that Star Wars Battlefront would be back next year “with bigger and better worlds, because we now have the new movies to work off of, not just the historical movies that we used before”. Star Wars Battlefront only focused on the original Star Wars trilogy, but it would seem that EA will be delving into the newer films as well.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is being developed by DICE alongside EA developer Motive Studios. Along with Star Wars Battlefront 2, Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment is working on a third-person action adventure Star Wars game, while Visceral Games, the studio behind Dead Space, is busy with yet another Star Wars title under the leadership of Amy Hennig.
It seems it’s a great time to be a Star Wars fan.
