The Square Enix E3 2019 conference was the one Marvel fans have been waiting for as the publisher announced just before the show that they would be revealing more about their upcoming Avengers game.
Along with this was the reveal of a brand new shooter and more of the gorgeous looking Final Fantasy VII remake.
Here is a list of some of the big announcements made during the conference.
Marvel’s Avengers: A-Day – Avengers Assemble!
We’ve been patiently waiting to see more of the Crystal Dynamics’ developed Marvel’s Avengers game and finally, Square Enix gave us our first look.
The game features all your favourite Avengers being voiced by an all-star cast, including Iron Man (Nolan North), Black Widow (Laura Bailey), Captain America (Jeff Schine), Thor (Travis Willingham), and Bruce Banner (Troy Baker). This alone is enough to get any Avengers fan excited.
The game takes place five years after an attack on San Francisco referred to as A-Day. Rumours have suggested that the game would follow a live-service model similar to Destiny and this seems to be true as the game can be played with up to four players online with Square Enix planning “multiple years of content”. Of course, the content will include new heroes, such as Ant-Man.
The game is set to release on the 15th of May 2020 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia.
Final Fantasy VII – Well, hello Tifa
While we have already been shown footage of Final Fantasy VII remake in action, Square Enix not only gave us our first look at Tifa but also showed off some of the game’s combat.
The trailer focused on Cloud and Barret facing off to the now iconic Scorpion Sentinel. Combat looks fast paced and we see Tifa kicking some butt unleashing some combos in real-time.
The game is set for a March 2020 release date.
Outriders – Shoot some stuff with a friend
Square Enix revealed a brand new shooter from the developers behind Bulletstorm called Outriders.
Not much was revealed about the game besides the fact that it is a “dark modern shooter” set in a sci-fi universe and will see players taking on various monsters on a planet called Enoch. The game will be a co-op shooter for one to three players and will have drop-in/drop-out multiplayer.
We also know that the game will release in 2020 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Dragon Quest Builder 2 – You can build it!
Square Enix released a brand new trailer for the upcoming Dragon Quest Builders 2.
The game will see players exploring everything from old ruins to castles and even dive into lakes. Along the way, they will discover all kinds of treasures and find out more the fantasy land they find themselves in. Of course, there will be loads of building stuff, unlocking more skills and harvesting materials and, when things get tough, you might want to take out your sword and beat up some cute monsters. The game will also include online co-op play for up to four people.
Dragon Quest Builders 2 is set for release on the 12th of July 2019 for the PlayStation 4.
