With the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi just around the corner, there have been many fans out there who have been digging into every tidbit of information they can find in order to discover clues to the story and characters. With the release of the Star Wars: The Last Jedi toys, speculation has turned towards the film’s big bad, Supreme Leader Snoke. Recently, the internet (source of all speculation and rumours) has been abuzz with regards to his gender identity.
Some might be aware that J.J. Abrams and creative supervisor Neal Scanlan initially considered making Snoke a female. The initial design for Snoke was less chain-smoking and decrepit alien male and more youthful alien female. The reasoning behind this was that Abrams wanted Snoke to feel less like a rehash of Palpatine. The idea of a female Snoke was never realised, or was it?
Thanks to a newly released toy, there has been new speculation surrounding his gender. The toy in question features a pale looking Snoke wearing a yellow/golden robe and sporting quite a large black Kyber Crystal ring. While the ring itself has had fans contemplating as to who or what Snoke might be, it’s what is hiding under his robe that has had many fans donning their tin foil hats.
An image of his open robe (courtesy of Reddit) seems to suggest that Snoke might, in fact, be a female. Underneath the robe, the figure sports some seriously fashionable capris pants. It’s quite apparent that Snoke has a very lean and feminine physique, which could indicate that he/she might indeed be female. All we know for sure is that Snoke is sporting some stylish golden slippers to complement that ravishing robe.
Now, while many might argue that this is just the overexcited minds of Star Wars fans looking for something that is not there, the fact that Abrams wanted the Star Wars villain to originally be female, along with the cast stating in a recent video that the story might take a direction many fans would not be expecting, this could indicate that there might be some truth to the speculation.
There are some that are proposing that Snoke might be a terribly disfigured Padme back from the dead. Who or what Snoke might be is still a mystery, but I will admit that hearing Snoke utter the words “Kylo, I am your grandmother” would definitely be a twist many fans might not be expecting.
Could Snoke truly be a female Star Wars character from the past or could this be the Marvel/ Star Wars crossover we’ve all been hoping for with the Supreme Leader actually being Tilda Swinton’s The Ancient One returning from the dead? I guess we’ll have to wait to find out.
I’ve seen the Snoke toys that have come out and it’s definitely a guy.
Ultra feminist
Snoke is the Doctor Strange’s Ancient One. Lol
Even though he looks a lot like Hillary Clinton, Snoke was called a He numerous times by Han Solo in TFA.
Why would Snoke be a female when the face capture actor playing him is Andy Serkis. Last time I checked Andy is a guy, don’t you think that if Snoke was female they would’ve given the face capture role to a female actress? Honestly, these are just people wanting attention and yes they are actually just people looking for things that aren’t there.
Once again, Andy Serkis told media “Snoke is just Snoke”
Not with a cod piece like that.
In the scene in which Leia is talking to Hans about losing their son Leia refers to Snoke as a “she”. Check it out
