We first got a look at the creepy porcelain doll in James Wan’s The Conjuring, which then gave way to the lacklustre spin-off Annabelle. With the help of Lights Out‘s David Sandberg, Annabelle: Creation takes us back to the doll’s origins. And it looks a lot more promising.
While the first Annabelle film, based on the evil doll we saw in The Conjuring, was a big disappointment, Annabelle: Creation hopes to improve and fix all the previous film’s wrongs. The new trailer features a lot of familiar horror film tropes, including the creepy orphanage setting, pitch dark corners, ghosts, demons, floating objects, Catholic priests and a helpless protagonist.
Several years after the tragic death of their little girl, a dollmaker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home, soon becoming the target of the dollmaker’s possessed creation, Annabelle.
