Over the last few months, Armie Hammer has been rumoured to be involved in just about every DCEU film. First, there were rumours that he was Green Lantern, then there were fans who were convinced that he was the new Batman (replacing Affleck), while others thought he was being lured to play The Green Arrow. Now, Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, has his sights on Armie Hammer playing Shazam.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who is attached to play Black Adam, has revealed his own personal preference for DCEU’s Shazam. It’s not Alan Ritchson and it’s not Sam Worthington. Instead, Johnson believes that Armie Hammer is the right choice for the lead in the 2019 film.
While speaking to WeGotThisCovered, Johnson revealed his choice for “Captain Marvel”:
“For example, I’m going to throw one name out here, and I want to see how the fans will are gonna react to this. A guy who I’d met, and after I met him I went ‘Wow! That guy is such a cool guy! He is a lot bigger than I thought he would be’ And when I walked away, I remember telling our producer, who I have worked with for a long time Hiram Garcia, we both looked at each other and were like ‘Possibly Shazam?!’ and we went ‘Yes!’ I’m not even going to say his name, I’m just going to say Lone Ranger.”
Hammer has been teasing his involvement with Green Lantern fans for months on Twitter. However, he recently revealed that he hasn’t been approached to play the character at all. It was all just in the name of fun. Could it be that he has been cast as another DCEU character instead? It’s very possible.
Or perhaps, it’s all just one big troll and The Rock is in on it all. Regardless, Hammer would need to hit the gym pretty hard before he was able to take on Shazam.
