After facing multiple delays it was announced by Keiji Inafune, the game’s creator that Mighty No. 9 will be releasing on the 21st and 24th of June 2016.
A post on the game’s official website has revealed that Mighty No. 9 has gone gold and the release date is “set in stone”.
“It’s been almost three years since the start of our Kickstarter campaign,” Inafune said, “which was only made possible through the support of our backers and fans around the world.” And although the various delays have disappointed fans, the developer is “happy to be able to deliver the game to everyone who brought [it] this far.”
The game’s development was marred by controversy, from the multiple delays to a change in the visual style of the game. Hopefully, the team was able to stay true to the original vision for the game. I guess we will know in June.
Mighty No. 9 is an upcoming action-platform video game in development by Comcept, in conjunction with Inti Creates, and published by Deep Silver. Mighty No. 9 very closely resembles Keiji Inafune’s most successful work, Mega Man, in both gameplay and character design, and is considered as its spiritual successor.
